She is a licensed clinical social worker, a master CASAC, and in 2020, she earned her NYS Certified Recovery Coach (CARC) certification. With experience as a clinician/coach, manager, administrator, and trainer, Deb has served in various capacities in the industry. Her passion lies in providing training, supervision, guidance, and support to those working with individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Deb began her career in county government before transitioning to self-employment in 2019. During her time with Albany County, she played a pivotal role in several justice-related initiatives. Some of these initiatives included assisting in the development of the Albany County Drug and Family Treatment Courts, where she also supervised staff placed on those teams. She was also the "SUD" trainer for the county delivered CIT training provided annually to local law enforcement. Additionally, Deb was part of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) development team for Albany County, where she traveled to Seattle, Washington, with all county stakeholders and sat on the LEAD team advisory board following implementation.

Recently, in collaboration with Benjamin Deeb, CRPA, CARC, Deb and Ben developed the training curriculum "Peer Professionals in Correctional/Justice Settings," which will be delivered to the peer professional workforce in New York State. She is also in the process of applying for OASAS/CASAC CEs in preparation for 2024 training delivery.

Benjamin Deeb, CRPA, CARC: is a person in long term recovery after 24 years in active addiction, 10 of which were spent in and out of jails and prisons. During his journey of recovery, Ben successfully completed the Recovery Coach Academy and all qualifications necessary to become a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) as well as a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC). He currently works for the Prevention Council/Healing Springs Recovery Center as the peer supervisor and in the Saratoga County Correctional Facility leading the Incarcerated Peer Recovery Initiative supporting incarcerated individuals seeking recovery. He sits on the board for Recovery Advocacy in Saratoga (RAIS), St. Luke’s Recovery Resource Center and the Diocese of Albany Recovery Commission.

Having had lived experience in the justice system, Ben knew where the gaps were and what supports were missing that would allow individuals to get treatment while incarcerated as well as set them up for successful re-entry. Ben came to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in 2018 and began to build a successful MOUD program, Recovery Pod and fully encompassing reentry program. Saratoga County Correctional Facility currently has a recidivism rate of 16% which is much lower than the nation average of 45%.

Ben has worked as part of the Saratoga County Drug Treatment Court, Homeless Court and built relationships with Parole, Probation and the Public Defender’s Office through collaboration and alternative to incarceration advocacy. Ben has taken meetings with Warren, Washington, Cayuga, and ST. Lawrence County Jails on his program, so he could outline how it could be integrated into their facilities.

Over the 2023-year Ben was invited as a subject matter expert to assist ASAP-NYCB in creating the domains and competencies for the new Criminal Justice Supported Recovery CJSR designation.

Recently in collaboration with Debra Rhoades CASAC, LCSW, CARC, Ben developed the training Curriculum “Peer Professional’s in Correctional/Justice Settings,” which will be delivered to the peer professional workforce in New York State.
